Recruiting more young talent – a dedicated award-winning activist.

A special press conference on Heidy Quah’s membership into DAP will be held tomorrow at Segambut MP Hannah Yeoh’s office in Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Kuala Lumpur.

DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang is expected to announce the activist’s entry into the party.

Quah received the Queen Elizabeth II Young Leaders Award last year for her work with the NGO Refuge for The Refugees (RFTR), which she founded with her friend Andrea Prisha.

The 24-year-old, who studied accounting and finance, had been involved in advocacy work from a young age. She set up the NGO at the age of 18.

Quah and Prisha came up with the idea to form RFTR after volunteering at a Myanmar refugee school, which later ran out of funds.

Best known for her work with refugees, Quah, along with Prisha, organised a fundraising effort for the school and registered RFTR soon after to help the community.
