Operating four times a week.

Fight AK6082, operating on an Airbus A230, landed at the Sultan Azlan Shah Airport today (Oct 1) at about 8.40am, having departed from Senai International Airport at 7.30am.

Upon arrival, the airplane was given a customary “water bath” to welcome it.

Passengers alighting from the plane were greeted by Perak Mentri Besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu, who gave them each a goody bag.

AirAsia chief executive officer Riad Asmat said about 120 passengers took the flight from Johor to Ipoh, while 126 departed Ipoh for Johor Baru at about 9.20am.

“The direct flight service to Ipoh has been months in the making and a long-anticipated addition to our route network.

“We have been aggressively expanding our network from Johor to enable more people to fly from and to this charming city,” Riad said.

“Our target is to get about 80% passengers for each flight,” he said, adding that the Airbus A230 can accommodate about 160 passengers.

“We will have four flights every week and hope to increase it later,” he added.

Ipoh marks AirAsia’s 16th domestic route in the country.

With the addition of Ipoh, the airline now flies to nine states in Malaysia and also the Federal Territory of Labuan.
