31 New Cases, 60 Recoveries, No New Deaths

Recoveries outnumber infections two to one, as total cases pass 7,000-mark.

Thirty-one new positive Covid-19 cases were reported in Malaysia today, bringing the cumulative total to 7,009 cases, including 1,189 which are active, said Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

“Ten of the new confirmed patients are imported cases while 21 are local transmissions, 10 of whom are foreigners,” he told a daily news conference on Covid-19 today.

A total of 60 fully recovered patients were discharged today, bringing the cumulative figure for recoveries to 5,706 or 81.4 percent of the total number of positive cases.

Dr Noor Hisham said the number of recoveries was nearly double the number of new cases reported.

He added that there were 11 cases being treated at intensive care units, with seven requiring breathing assistance.

No fatalities were reported in the same 24-hour period, keeping the death toll at 114 or 1.63 percent of the total number of cases.
