There are 50 new Covid-19 cases reported as at noon today, bringing the tally to 7,059 nationwide, with 1,149 active cases.
“Of the total new cases reported today, three were imported and contracted abroad. Of the 47 locally transmitted cases, 41 are foreigners,” he told a press conference today.
Out of the 47, 34 cases were detected at the Immigration Department’s custody depot in Bukit Jalil.
“These 34 individuals have been in custody since the start of the ongoing movement control order (MCO) on March 18.

Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said another 90 have recovered and were discharged from hospitals. This brings the total number of patients who have recovered from the virus to 5,796 (82.1 percent).
“This means the number of recoveries is twice as many as that of new cases,” he said.
Ten Covid-19 patients are currently in the intensive care unit (ICU), with seven of them placed on ventilator support.
He said there was no death case today, with the death toll remaining at 114 (1.61 percent of the cumulative cases).
