Perak DAP chief Nga Kor Ming said he will take responsibility for the recent resignation of two Perak DAP office-bearers.
According to Sin Chew Daily, Nga told reporters in Ipoh today that the matter would be addressed internally.
“We thank everyone for their concern. This is an internal party matter. We will resolve it through internal channels.
“I alone will take the blame, as long as no harm comes to the party,” he said.
Meanwhile, Perak Menteri Besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu told reporters last night that he was confident that Perak DAP would handle the matter appropriately.
“I don’t want to interfere in their affairs. I understand they (the Perak DAP leadership) are meeting tonight (last night).
“I believe Perak DAP will arrive at a decision that would ensure stability and understanding,” he said.
At a press conference yesterday, Perak DAP deputy treasurer Leong Cheok Keng and assistant secretary Leow Thye Yih said they had resigned yesterday and cited dissatisfaction with Nga.
The duo claim Nga did not consult the Perak DAP leadership before deciding that Perak Pakatan Harapan would make the final decision on Paul Yong’s status as a state cabinet member.
Yong is currently on leave ahead of a rape trial. Faizal has taken over Yong’s portfolio which deals with housing, local government, public transport, non-Muslim affairs and new village affairs.
Leong and Leow had argued that discussions on Yong’s position in the state cabinet should not have arisen because Perak DAP’s leadership unanimously believed in Yong’s innocence.
Leong is Yong’s lawyer and also the Malim Nawar state assemblyperson.
During the same press conference, Leong also accused Nga of undermining some state assemblypersons in Perak. – Malaysiakini
