Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow to contest in upcoming DAP CEC election.
The former state party chairman said he would contest during the party’s 18th National Congress on March 16.
“The nomination period has closed. I can confirm that I will be contesting in the election on March 16,” he said.

He did not take part in the state party election last September.
However, The Star cited Chow as saying it was too early to say if he would accept the DAP chairperson post if he was voted into the CEC and offered the title.
Chow is currently DAP vice-chairman, a post he has held since 2004. He is also serving his second and last term as Penang Chief Minister.
Chow’s decision to seek re-election to the party’s central leadership comes amid rife speculation that Chow’s rival – DAP chairperson Lim Guan Eng – is also facing diminishing support.
