Big insurance compensation while he takes baby steps during recovery
- HK$80m payout for horse-riding injury
- Recuperating from multiple fractures in pelvis, strained tendon and muscle
- Learning to walk again
Chinese daily Kwong Wah Yit Poh has reported that Andy Lau will be getting HK$80 million in insurance compensation for his horse-riding injury while filming a tea commercial in Thailand. The compensation is for his loss of income during his 51-day stay in the hospital and another six months for rehabilitation.
The 55-year-old Hong Kong actor, who was discharged from the Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital on Mar 10 and is recuperating at home, suffered multiple fractures in his pelvis and strained his tendon and muscle during the Jan 17 incident where he was thrown off a horse. The commercial is scheduled to be released by the end of this month.
On Mar 18, Lau posted a message to his fans on his website: “Every day I’m sitting a little bit longer. Every day I’m standing a little bit longer. One day I’ll take the first step. I’m tough!”
