Federal Territories Minister Annuar Musa will have to pay RM2,000 for breaching Covid-19 movement restrictions by visiting the home of former prime minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.
Annuar and his wife had visited Abdullah and wife Jeanne Abdullah at their home in Kuala Lumpur for lunch on Saturday and had posted pictures of their visit on social media.
He deleted the posts after angry comments from social media users.
Kuala Lumpur is still under the movement-control order (MCO), also known as Phase One of the government’s recently unveiled National Recovery Plan.
Standard operating procedure (SOP) under this phase prohibit social visits.
This is the third time Annuar has violated Covid-19 SOP.
In a previous violation, he went jogging with two other people, and in yet another he ate a meal with others at a cafe. He also posted about these events on social media.
Annuar today confirmed that he received a fine from police for breaching Covid-19 SOPs over the weekend in a statement from his office.
