Annuar Musa has slammed leaders from Bersatu and other parties for throwing allegations at Umno over the revelation of a secret bank account.
“Secret Umno Account? Leaders from Bersatu and other parties should not throw such allegations. It is not going to bring any good,” the former Barisan Nasional (BN) secretary-general tweeted.

Annuar said the party had never made the decision to open a secret account throughout his stint with the party, which spans more than two decades.
The revelation of a secret bank account, which existed since 1988, came to light during a court proceeding for an asset forfeiture suit linked to 1Malaysia Development Bhd.
The prosecution said the existence of the unaudited account was discovered by the police during their investigation.
It was reported that the account was opened in Southern Bank, which was later acquired by CIMB Bank, by then party leaders in 1988.
The money was never accounted for and is said to be meant for political donations.
Bersatu supreme council member Dr Muhammad Faiz Na’aman recently questioned the existence of the secret, unverified and unofficial bank account.
He said the revelation is a plain betrayal to the party’s constitution and its members.
“The undeclared bank account (and unaudited political donations), if proven associated directly to the party and their leadership, is also a serious violation under ROS regulation,” he said in a statement recently.

Furthermore, the transaction of the so-called political donations from a source linked to the 1MDB scandal has put the owner of the bank account at odds with the law, thus tarnishing UMNO’s reputation indirectly.”
The fact that the account existed since 1988 will also complicate former Umno presidents, who, without doubt, must know (of) its existence or benefited from it,” he added. – TMI
