Certain Umno figures are pushing for cooperation with Anwar Ibrahim and DAP, said Barisan Nasional secretary-general Annuar Musa.

He did not disclose their identities but said there was a conspiracy to “undo the ‘No Anwar, No DAP” policy of Umno.

“It’s difficult to take action against these repeated attempts to betray the ‘No DAP, No Anwar’ policy because of the greedy, shameless and tolerant attitude of other Malays.

“As such, there is a conspiracy to ensure this No Anwar, No DAP policy fails, by collecting SDs (statutory declarations), endless persuasions, manufacturing anger against the government, and by using the name of the palace and the royalty,” Annuar, who is also Ketereh MP and Federal Territories Minister, posted on Facebook yesterday.

He said those behind this “movement” have been traced.

“They may not realise it, but their actions are already known,” he added.

Annuar’s comments come in the wake of a recent possibility that Umno would cooperate with Perak PH in the forming of a new state government, following the ouster of Bersatu’s Ahmad Faizal Azumu as menteri besar.

Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had said the party had no problem working with other parties to create a new political alliance following the collapse of the Perak government.

To Zahid’s statement, Perak DAP chairman Nga Kor Ming said DAP was ready to negotiate with Umno in Perak under certain conditions.

However, the idea of an Umno-DAP partnership in Perak was short-lived after Bersatu, PAS and Umno reached an agreement to form a new Perikatan Nasional government in the state, with Umno’s Saarani Mohamad as menteri besar.

Meanwhile, Johor Umno deputy chief Nur Jazlan Mahmed warned that Umno might ditch Perikatan Nasional and work with Harapan if Bersatu continued to make Umno play second fiddle.
