Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has criticised certain parties for stirring racial sentiments to create unrest, describing their tactics as outdated and desperate.
Speaking at the 18th DAP National Congress, the Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman dismissed such strategies as a “desperado” approach to politics.
“For nearly 15 years, PAS was allied with DAP. Even during the Pakatan Harapan administration under Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, they sat at the same table with DAP leaders.

“So, are their current claims true? These are merely the words of desperate individuals—what we call ‘desperados’ in politics.
“There is no basis, no policy critiques, and no new proposals. Instead, they keep repeating the same rhetoric, instilling fear among Malays about the so-called rise of the Chinese, especially under the DAP symbol,” Anwar said.
Among those present at the congress were Amanah president Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, PH secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution, and DAP veteran Tan Sri Lim Kit Siang.
Anwar criticised these parties for relying on racial narratives rather than engaging in debates on government policies.
“There is no scandal involving the country’s leadership… no cases of corruption or abuse of power.
“What we see now is the manipulation of racial issues, with claims that this government is weak because it supposedly bows to the influence of certain parties. That is the only narrative they push,” he said.
