An aquatics coach, said to have been involved in the recent 2017 Kuala Lumpur Sea Games, has been detained today over the alleged rape of a Malaysian trainee.
The suspect, who is said to be in his 30s, is from China, while the victim was a backup diver for the national team in the Sea Games.
The victim’s parents lodged a police report on Sunday, following which the suspect was arrested.
The suspect is believed to have been with the national team since 2012 and had been involved with the ‘Kita Juara’ Sea Games programme.
The alleged rape took place on Sept 26.
