Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) chairperson Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki vowed no cover-ups or mercy for any bullying cases at Mara Junior Science College (MRSM) boarding schools.
He said it would not matter if the bullies involved were the sons of prominent people.
“Even if it’s a VIP or any VVVIP’s child, you touch, you go!” he posted on Facebook yesterday.
The post appears to be in response to a recent bullying case at the Malay College Kuala Kangsar (MCKK) – another premier boarding school – which has pitted the victim’s family against the school’s Parent-Teacher Association.
Asyraf in his post called on parents of any MRSM students who are being bullied to get in touch with him if the school’s administrators are trying to cover up the case.
“Bullying, if allowed to continue without stern action, would surely disrupt all efforts to shape the character of a generation that is hoped to be able to shoulder major responsibilities once they are thrust into real society in the future,” he said.
At least one parent has taken the opportunity to report an alleged bullying case at an MRSM school in the comments section of the Umno secretary-general’s post.
Asyraf followed up by asking which MRSM school was involved.
