Wong Lee Ping, mother of the deceased student Yap Shing Xuen, said the extent of the injuries was revealed by the pathologist after the post-mortem examination. She said the stab wounds were concentrated on the right side of her daughter’s body, from the neck down to the thigh.

“What I was told is that the suspect climbed over the school’s toilet cubicle and attacked my daughter, who had locked herself inside. She screamed, and after the attack, the suspect climbed out of the cubicle while my daughter remained locked inside,” Wong told reporters at the Nirvana Center Kuala Lumpur.

Wong said her daughter had no prior connection with the suspect and had never mentioned any approach or interaction with him.

“She was an introvert but active in sports, especially volleyball. A self-disciplined and filial daughter, she has never caused me any trouble,” she said tearfully.

She also addressed several false claims circulating on social media, including allegations that her daughter was raped and that an uncle had been misidentified as the suspect’s father.

“My daughter is already a victim, and I hope social media will stop spreading these falsehoods,” she said.

The victim’s stepfather, How Boon Chin, questioned how schools could restrict mobile phone use yet fail to prevent weapons from being brought onto school grounds.

“Please stop all this nonsense, it’s ridiculous. The main thing is I want an answer to what really happened. I just hope these things will not happen again because schools are supposed to be a safe place,” How said.
