Bersatu Youth has demanded that the authorities cancel Rosmah Mansor’s passport and that she be brought back to the country immediately after failing to show up at the Court of Appeal two days ago.

Its information chief, Mohd Ashraf Mustaqim Badrul Munir said they would be lodging a police report this afternoon at the Dang Wangi police station to get the authorities to act on the matter.

“The police report will urge the Malaysian government to extradite her from Singapore,” he said in a statement, adding that her bail money should also be forfeited.

“Rosmah has failed to attend her trial. She also violated the High Court order (on her trip to Singapore). This is an insult to the country’s judiciary,” Ashraf said.

On Dec 2, she was supposed to appear for her appeal to disqualify Gopal Sri Ram as the lead prosecutor in her corruption case and to annul the trial proceedings.

However, her lawyers said she was still in Singapore. The three-member bench of the Court of Appeal then gave an ultimatum that she was to appear before them at 9am on Dec 6.

On Oct 15, the High Court had allowed the application by the wife of former prime minister Najib Razak for the temporary release of her passport for her travel to Singapore to visit her daughter who was about to deliver at that time.

Rosmah was also ordered to return to the country on or before Nov 21 and surrender her passport by Dec 6.

Meanwhile, Klang MP Charles Santiago said it was mind-boggling that Rosmah was given such leeway by the court when an arrest warrant should have been issued, her lawyer’s explanations notwithstanding.

“She must be treated like any one of us, who would have been hunted down if we were not present in court.

“First of all, her passport shouldn’t have been returned for her temporary use. And now the courts are seen to be pandering to her wishes,” he said in his Facebook page today. – FMT
