The MACC has reportedly arrested a blogger in relation to an allegation of corruption in a “ministry project” worth RM41 million.
According to The Star, Putrajaya magistrate Irza Zulaikha Rohanuddin has granted a remand order against the blogger, who is in his 50s, to facilitate investigations.
The blogger was arrested after he was summoned by the MACC last night, and the remand period is for two days starting today.
The daily quoted an unnamed source saying that the suspect is believed to have received bribes worth RM1.3 million from an IT company sometime in 2020, in exchange for the blogger lobbying on the company’s behalf to secure the procurement contract.
It also quoted MACC senior director of investigations confirming the arrest. – Malaysiakini
