A third individual who is the girlfriend of the main suspect in the murder of a female lecturer who was strangled last Wednesday, will have her statement recorded soon.
Sepang police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof said the statement would be taken to assist in investigation into the motive for the murder.
“The suspect’s girlfriend is outside Selangor. This individual is not involved in any criminal activity and we need her to help us in the investigation,” he said when contacted.
Wan Kamarul Azran said police would also plan to apply a second remand order for the suspect, as his first remand is expected to end tomorrow.
“The suspect will continue to be remanded to complete our investigation, before the case is submitted to Deputy Public Prosecutor for further action.”
“The victim’s child is currently under the care of the family,” he said.
The body of the 40-year-old victim, who was lecturer at a local university, was found near a lake at PKNS Pinggiran Cyberjaya in Dengkil, here, at 1.04am on July 29.
Her husband, 41, was subsequently arrested for allegedly strangling his wife to death. It was believed that she had filed for a divorce.
