A couple drowned after their car overshot a road and plunged into a river near Jitra.
Jitra Fire and Rescue Department received information from the police on the accident that occurred at a river along Jalan Kampung Lana Bulu at 9.37pm Sunday (June 7).
The station’s rescuers arrived at the scene in 12 minutes.
With the help of volunteer firefighters and tow trucks, the car was later pulled out of the murky river using a towing crane.
The Jitra Fire and Rescue Station operation commander reported the body of a man in his 30s and a woman of uncertain age were found trapped inside their Proton Saga SV car and were brought out separately from the car at 12.45am and 1.20am Monday (June 8).
The bodies of the victims were handed to police for further action. – The Star
