Number of new infections in Malaysia has exceeded 1,000 for the fifth day in a row.
Malaysia today reported 1,210 new Covid-19 infections and five deaths in the last 24 hours.
The five deaths recorded today involved four individuals from Sabah and one in Perak, aged between 25 and 80. Except for one woman in Sabah, all of them suffered from chronic health conditions.

Director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said 19 of today’s cases were imported.
He said the new cases bring the national caseload to 49,730 while the death toll now stands at 318.
Dr Noor Hisham said Klang Valley accounted for the bulk of the cases at 518 while Sabah recorded 499.
Meanwhile, 1,018 patients were discharged from the hospital after recovering from the coronavirus in the past 24 hours.
With this, total recoveries from the virus now stand at 36,624.
A total of 105 patients are currently treated in intensive care, with 40 requiring breathing assistance.

The Health Ministry classified five new clusters today.
Dr Noor Hisham did not hold a press briefing today and instead communicated the latest Covid-19 data through a statement at 6.30pm.
