Covid-19: 1,472 New Cases

Malaysia recorded 1,472 new Covid-19 cases today, bringing the tally of infections to 67,169 – 10,495 of which are active cases.

More than half of the cases are from the Teratai cluster involving Top Glove workers’ hostels in Meru, Klang, Selangor.

According to Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham, of the new cases, five are imported, while the remaining 1,467 are local transmissions.

However, he noted that the number of infections is stabilising nationwide, and the majority were detected at workplaces.

“Overall, for the past one week, all states showed a more stable daily tally of Covid-19 cases.”

Malaysia recorded 1,552 recoveries today, bringing the tally of recovered cases in the country to 56,311.

At the moment, he said 120 Covid-19 positive patients are being treated in intensive care, with 44 requiring breathing assistance.

“There were three more Covid-19 deaths recorded today, all in Sabah, bringing the tally of deaths nationwide to 363,” he added.

Two of the deceased, a man, 51, and a woman, 64, had a history of diabetes.

Meanwhile, the third victim was a 24-year-old man with no medical history of note.
