The Health Ministry today reported 15 new cases of Covid-19, including 10 local transmission cases and five that are imported.
Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said with the new cases, the country now has a cumulative 9,038 confirmed cases in which 200 were active.
Eight of the 10 cases were Malaysians, six of whom were from the Sivagangga cluster in Kedah that stemmed from a restaurant owner who broke quarantine on his return from India.
A workplace screening in Negri Sembilan led to the discovery of the seventh Malaysian infected via local transmission and tests at Labuan’s international entry point detected the eighth.
Of the two foreigners who were cases of local transmission, one was an undocumented migrant in Negri Sembilan and the other was found to be infected during targeted community screening in Kuala Lumpur.
Eleven had recovered and allowed to discharge from hospitals, bringing the number of recoveries to 8,713.
Two patients are in intensive care, one of which is intubated.
The death toll remains at 125.
