Covid-19: 18 New Cases

Malaysia recorded 18 new cases on Friday (July 17), bringing the total infections to 8,755 with three recoveries, says the Health Ministry.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a statement that 10 of them were imported cases involving seven Malaysians who were returning home and three foreigners who were allowed to enter the country for business affairs.

“From the eight locally transmitted cases, six of them are Malaysians while two others are foreigners.

“Of the six Malaysians, four of them were tested positive in Sarawak while two others were detected in Terengganu,” he said.

No new deaths were recorded. The death toll remains at 122.

Noor Hisham added that the ministry also detected four new Covid-19 infection clusters today.

They were named as the “PUI Pitakwa Cluster”, the “PUI Shirala Cluster”, the “Kuching Medical Centre Cluster” and the “Jupiter Cluster”.
