Malaysia today reported 57 new Covid-19 cases, with only four involving local transmissions, said Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
The health director-general said of the 57 cases, 10 were imported cases and 47 were local cases.
Of the 47 local cases, Noor Hisham said 43 involved foreigners.
Noor Hisham said 24 infections were detected at the Sepang Immigration Detention centre, and 15 cases in Pahang, which involved three clusters.
He said one case was detected in the Kg Sg Lui cluster, one from the Pudu cluster, one case of an illegal being transferred to a detention centre and one case in Klang.
“Therefore, cases of local transmissions among Malaysian is only four,” he said.
He said the latest infections take the nation’s tally of total cases to 7,819.
Meanwhile, the number of active cases stands at 1,351, Noor Hisham said, adding that 23 patients were newly discharged, bringing the number of total recoveries to 6,353 or 81.25 percent.
Nine were still being treated in the ICU, with two of them needing ventilator support.
No fatalities were recorded, with the death toll remaining at 115 or 1.47 percent.
