One more Covid-19 fatality today, bringing the death toll to 96 nationwide so far.
Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the 61-year-old male patient, who was Case 2,978, died at the Sungai Buloh Hospital earlier today.
“The patient was a local man who had a medical background of diabetes, high blood pressure and kidney disease.
“He had a close contact history with Case 1,345 who had a history of returning from Indonesia.

“The patient was treated at the hospital on March 31 and was declared dead at 2.29am,” said Dr Noor Hisham at a daily press briefing at the ministry today.
Meanwhile, Dr Noor Hisham said as of 12pm today, 88 new cases were reported, bringing the total positive cases in the country to 5,691.
He said the total number of Covid-19 active infectivity cases was 1,932.
“They have been isolated and given treatment. So far, 41 Covid-19 positive cases are being treated in the Intensive Care Unit. Of the total, 18 cases require breathing assistance,” he added.
Dr Noor Hisham said 121 patients have recovered and discharged today.
“This makes the total cumulative cases that have fully recovered from Covid-19 and discharged from wards to 3,663 which is 64.4 per cent of the total cases. The number of cases discharged today is more than the cases reported,” said Dr Noor Hisham. – NST
