Covid-19: 9 New Cases

Nine Covid-19 cases have been reported in the country as of noon today, bringing the tally of infections to 9,249.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said 179 active cases were still being treated at health facilities nationwide.

From the new cases, four were imported cases involving all non-Malaysians and five cases were local transmissions involving four Malaysians and one foreigner.

“The four imported cases are from the Philippines (1), Austria (1), Indonesia (1), and India (1). The local transmissions involving a non-Malaysian was from a screening, prior to returning to the origin country.

He said the individual was asymptomatic and was sent to Sarawak General Hospital.

“The other four local transmissions are from the Tawar cluster in Kedah (3) and Maju cluster (new cluster) in Kuala Lumpur (1),” he said in a statement issued today.

He also said seven cases were currently being treated at the Intensive Care Unit, with four cases on breathing support.

Dr Noor Hisham also said no death was recorded today, with the total death cases in the country currently at 125 or 1.35 percent.

“A total of 13 cases have recovered and were discharged today.


“The total cumulative recovery cases in the country are 8,945 (96.7 percent),” he added. – NST
