The highest daily jump of Covid-19 cases.

Today’s stats:

  • Deaths – 4
  • Total deaths – 14
  • New cases – 212, with 123 linked to tabligh cluster
  • Total cases linked to tabligh cluster – 943
  • Total cases – 1,518
  • ICU cases – 57, with 27 requiring assistance breathing
  • Recovered and discharged – 159

Four more deaths caused by Covid-19 were recorded over the last 24-hours, with a jump of 212 new confirmed cases of infection registered over the same period which was the country’s highest daily rise so far.

Health director general Datuk Noor Hisham Abdullah said the new cases include 123 patients linked to the recent tabligh gathering in Sri Petaling, which has caused some 943 infections so far.

This brings the total number of local infections to 1,518, with 14 deaths recorded so far, and 159 who have recovered and discharged, the Ministry of Health said today.

“Up to now a total of 57 Covid-19 positive cases are being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). From that total, 27 of them require assistance breathing,” he said during the ministry daily press conference.

The 12th case involved a 70-year-old man from the Tabligh cluster. He was treated at the Kluang Hospital in Johor.

The 13th victim was a 49-year-old man who was the son of patient number 1,031. He was receiving treatment at the Sarawak General Hospital in Kuching.

The 14th victim was a 51-year-old woman who was receiving treatment at the Miri Hospital. She was identified as a close contact of a positive case from the tabligh cluster.
