An Indonesian couple wanted for the suspected murder of their employer near here was arrested by police at a restaurant in Damansara, Petaling Jaya, Selangor, on Saturday.
The suspects, a man named Bartolomeus Fransceda and his wife named Ekalia, were employed as domestic workers at the victim’s home.
Their employer – a 73-year-old woman – was found dead in the living room of her house in Kulai on Wednesday. She was discovered by neighbours after her 40-year-old son failed to reach her by telephone.
The two suspects, both aged 21, are also believed to have stolen some of their employer’s jewellery.
Johor police chief Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said the duo was arrested along with a 24-year-old Indonesian man at 4.30am. However, he said police are still investigating the nature of the relationship between the two suspects and the man.
“Initial questioning found that the suspects admitted to being involved in the (murder).
“The…suspects were unhappy with the victim…,” he said in a statement.
Ayob Khan said a white Toyota Alphard belonging to the victim, which was used by the two suspects to flee the scene of the murder, was found by police at Taman Nusa Bestari near Skudai.
He added that all three suspects are under remand for a week beginning Saturday.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
