Malaysia today registered its highest daily Covid-19 death toll of 21 cases.
This brings the tally of coronavirus fatalities in the country to 791.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also revealed that the country logged 3,455 new infections today.
All but five of the new cases are local infections.
One-third of the new infections were reported in Selangor, at 1,145 cases.
Selangor is also the only state to log cases in the four-digits today.
Johor recorded 708 cases, while Kuala Lumpur has 619 new infections.
Also reporting three-digit cases are Sabah (276), Sarawak (121) and Terengganu (115).
To date, there are 47,847 active cases in the country, and 222,628 cases cumulatively.
The country also saw 3,661 recoveries over the last 24 hours, increasing its tally to 173,990.
Currently, 327 patients are being treated in the intensive care unit. – NST
