The health ministry has reported a record-high 6,976 Covid-19 cases and 49 deaths in the past 24 hours.
The previous record high was 6,806 cases on May 20.
Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 3,587 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 452,821.
In a statement, Noor Hisham said the total number of infections now stands at 512,091.
There are 57,022 active cases, with 681 patients being treated in intensive care and 361 requiring respiratory assistance.
Meanwhile, the 49 deaths take the number of fatalities to 2,248.
There were 6,971 local infections today, comprising 6,324 Malaysians and 647 foreigners, as well as five imported cases.
Selangor recorded the highest number of cases, with 2,235.
This was followed by Sarawak (663), Kelantan (626), Johor (549), Kuala Lumpur (447), Negeri Sembilan (434), Kedah (422), Penang (372), Perak (279), Terengganu (266), Pahang (263), Melaka (209), Sabah (136), Labuan (37), Putrajaya (30) and Perlis (8). – FMT
