Covid 19: Two New Cases, One Death

Malaysia today saw a record low of two new coronavirus cases – the lowest since movement restrictions were imposed on March 18, neither being local transmissions.

“Of the two new cases reported, one is an import case infected from overseas.

“Another case was recorded involving a non-citizen, reported in Kuching, Sarawak, namely one of the close contacts with case number 8303,” Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said during the daily press conference on Covid-19 today.

He said the two new cases took the cumulative number of infections in the country to 8,338, with 1,206 active cases being treated in isolation.

He revealed that 39 patients were discharged, bringing total number of recoveries to 7,014 or 84.1% of the total 8,338 infections.

Five patients are in intensive care, but none on respiratory support.

One death from Covid-19 was reported – that of a 61-year-old Malaysian man who had diabetes and kidney disease.

The deceased was of the Seri Petaling cluster and who was admitted to the Sg Buloh Hospital on March 15. He died today at 7am.

The virus death toll now is 118 or 1.42% of the total number of cases.
