DAP will establish the P Patto Education Fund to honour the late Bagan MP’s contributions to the party.

DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke announced the initiative at the 18th DAP National Congress, noting that this year marks the 30th anniversary of Patto’s passing.

“The fund will support students from underprivileged families. The exact mechanism is still being discussed, and we will make an announcement soon,” he said.

Loke highlighted that many younger party members may not be familiar with Patto, describing him as a fearless advocate for the oppressed and a vocal parliamentarian.

He also expressed appreciation for DAP veterans who have chosen not to seek re-election for the Central Executive Committee (CEC), including Bukit Bintang MP Fong Kui Lun, Cheras MP Tan Kok Wai, Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reform) M. Kulasegaran, and Kapayan state assemblywoman Jannie Lasimbang.

Additionally, Loke announced the introduction of DAP’s online membership registration, making it easier for supporters to join the party.
