A 41-year-old tipper lorry driver was killed in a tragic incident at a quarry along Jalan Kuantan-Kemaman at about 11am today.
Ahmad Asrol Ab Rahman from Kuala Terengganu had lost control of his lorry and had attempted to jump out of the moving vehicle.
Kuantan police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Mohd Zahari Wan Busu said initial investigations revealed the soil-laden lorry was travelling downhill at the quarry towards Gebeng.
“Asrol was believed to have lost control of the lorry and attempted to jump from the moving vehicle. However, he got stuck to the driver’s side door and the vehicle crashed into some boulders.
“The driver was pinned in his vehicle and died at the scene. His remains were sent to the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital for post mortem,” he said.
He said the case had been classified under Section 304A of the Penal Code for death by negligence. – NST
