It was a sea of blue and red at the Bangi nomination centre on Saturday (Nov 5) as Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan supporters gathered to find out who would contest the seat in the 15th General Election.
Eight candidates succesfully filed their nomination papers to contest the seat at the nomination centre in Dewan Demesne at the Hulu Langat District and Land Office.
The candidates are Datuk Hoh Hee Lee from Barisan-MCA, Shahredzan Johan from Pakatan Harapan-DAP, Muhammad Nazrul Md Nazir from Perikatan-PAS, Annuar Salleh from Pan-Malaysian Islamic Front (Berjasa) which comes under the Gerakan Tanah Air coalition and Chee Chee Meng from Parti Rakyat Malaysia.
Two businessmen, Suthan Mookiah and Muhammad Fauzi Hasim; and environmental health expert Dr Jamal Hisham Hashim will be contesting as independent candidates.
The candidates’ submissions were confirmed by returning officer Ani Ahmad who is Hulu Langat district officer.
The nomination process was a peaceful one, thanks to security measures taken by the police to close the road in front of the Bangi nomination centre starting midnight on Nov 5.
During the nomination process, it was observed that individuals from various non-govermental organisations were also present to ensure the nomination process was carried out smoothly and without prejudice. – The Star
