Court found the bond a valid and binding contract.

PKR information chief Fahmi Fadzil said this came after the High Court today ordered the party’s former vice-president, Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin, to pay PKR RM10 million for breaching the bond binding her to the party.

“At the next PKR leadership meeting, action against Zuraida and the court’s decision may be discussed.

“She was not the only one who jumped ship at the time, there were others, too.

“PKR may continue taking legal action against those who betrayed the party,” he told reporters today.

Earlier, judge Datuk Akhtar Tahir allowed PKR’s suit against Zuraida after finding that the bond was a valid and binding contract.

The court ordered Zuraida to pay RM50,000 in costs.

Lauding the court’s decision, Fahmi, who is also communications and digital minister, said it proved PKR’s belief that only those without principles party hop.

He said Zuraida breached the bond before the anti-party hopping law was enforced.

“That’s why the party signed the bond with her and others who contested (in elections) on a PKR ticket.”

In February 2020, Zuraida and 10 other PKR members of parliament, including then deputy president Datuk Seri Azmin Ali, announced that they were quitting the party and Pakatan Harapan (PH) to set up an independent bloc in Parliament. PKR had deemed it an “act of betrayal”.
