The family of abused Indonesian maid Adelina Lisao, who slept in the porch with the family dog and died shortly after being rescued, have received the wages owed to her.

Indonesian Consul-General Iwanshah Wibisono said the maid’s employer paid her next of kin RM69,300, which is understood to be her entire salary since she started work in December 2014.

“I hope the case can be settled soon to ensure justice is served,” Iwanshah said outside the courtroom yesterday.

He was present for the mention of the murder charge against S Ambika, 59, in a magistrate’s court in Bukit Mertajam.

The accused is charged with murdering Adelina at a house in Medan Kota Permai 2, Taman Kota Permai, at 5pm on Feb 10.

Magistrate Dianne Ningrad Nor Azahar fixed May 28 for the next mention, pending the pathology report.

Ambika is charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, which carries the mandatory death sentence, upon conviction.

Adelina was rescued on Feb 10 after it was reported that she was physically abused and was made to sleep on the porch with a Rottweiler.
