Former DAP vice chairman Tunku Aziz dies

Former senator Tunku Abdul Aziz Tunku Ibrahim has passed away at the age of 89.

The news was confirmed by his nephew, Datuk Tengku Azman Tengku Zainal Abidin, in an Instagram post.

Tunku Abdul Aziz joined DAP in 2008 and served as its vice-chairman. However, he quit the party in 2012 and became one of its most vocal critics.

He had also helped found Transparency International Malaysia in 1998 and was the anti-graft NGO’s vice-chairman until October 2002.

Tunku Abdul Aziz served as a special adviser to Kofi Annan, the then United Nations secretary-general, from February 2006 to January 2007. – The Star
