Police arrested four men early today believed to be involved in throwing a Molotov cocktail at the district police headquarters in Sungai Petani on Saturday morning.

The attack left a scorch mark on the road at the entrance of the police headquarters and shattered pieces of glass.

Written on a banner that was left behind were the number 04, the Nazi symbol and the words ‘last warning for PDRM’.

The 3.30 am attack is in apparent retaliation for the police force’s ongoing crackdown on the underworld in Kedah, believed to be by those angry that police arrested several Gang 04 members in Bedong, near Sungai Petani, last Wednesday.

The men were picked up between 1am and 3am this morning, according to Kedah Criminal Investigation Department chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Mior Farid Al Athrash Wahid.

During the early morning operation, the four suspects were arrested at three different locations, namely Lorong Boria in Taman Ria Jaya, Jalan Bandar Mutiara in Bandar Mutiara and at Jalan Bakar Sampah.

The suspects are aged between 25 and 41 years old.

One of the suspects, aged 30, has seven previous convictions for causing mischief, gambling and causing hurt.

A motorcycle was also seized from one of the suspects.

The four have been remanded for four days, until Jul 26, for investigations.
