Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo has reiterated his call for firm action against individuals who incite religious or racial hatred, stressing that repeated offences despite previous warnings have worsened the situation.
Speaking on Monday (March 10), Gobind revealed that the matter was raised in Cabinet on Friday (March 7), where a decision was made to take decisive action against such cases.
“This issue was discussed, and it was agreed that firm action must be taken. On the same day, Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil issued a statement underscoring its urgency,” he said.

Gobind urged both the police and the Attorney General’s Chambers to act swiftly.
“We cannot and must not allow insulting religious statements to go unpunished,” he emphasised.
He pointed out that legal provisions already exist to address such incidents.
“These laws mean nothing if they are not enforced. Action must be taken to send a strong message that we will not tolerate insults to any religion and that there are consequences for doing so,” he stated.
