A Hindu group intends to lodge a police report against preacher Zakir Naik for allegedly questioning the loyalty of Malaysian Hindus to the country.

Agamam Ani Hindu Association adviser Arun Doraisamy told The Malaysian Insight the group would report Zakir for hate-mongering.

The group is angry at the preacher for stating that Malaysian Hindus are more loyal to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi than they are to Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Zakir had said that during a talk on his recent Kelantan tour.

“We totally despise this and action is on the way,” said Arun.

“Once again we say Zakir Naik does not belong in Malaysia.”

Arun also questioned the controversial preacher’s motives behind such remarks.

“He went to Kelantan for what? For political review or for preaching of religion?”

The activist also accused the doctor-turned-preacher of wishing to spread hate instead of Islam.

“It is not just a talk. He pre-planned this one. He really did this because his interest is not to propagate Islam but to propagate hate in Malaysia,” he added.

“We are Malaysians. We love our country and there is no question of supporting any other country other than Malaysia. Period,” said Arun.

Meanwhile, Malaysia Hindu Sangam president RS Mohan Shan said the association will wait for the reactions of leaders such as the prime minister and ministers on the matter before deciding on whether to lodge a police report against Zakir.

Mohan said it is upsetting that the sensitive comments were directed specifically against Malaysian Hindus.

“Why is he creating religious tension by saying we support Modi instead of Tun Mahathir?” he asked.

“About 80% of the country had voted in the last general election for Dr Mahathir.

Bagan Dalam assemblyman Satees Muniandy said it was Zakir who was disloyal to his country of birth.

He said Zakir had sought refuge in a foreign country because he was wanted in his homeland of India for money laundering and terrorism-related activities.

The DAP man also questioned Putrajaya’s lack of action against the preacher who has been fanning religious discord.

He asked the government if it was worth putting the country’s peace and harmony at risk for the sake of protecting the preacher from the law. – TMI
