Inspector-General Police Razarudin Husain said the suspect was detained at 3pm in Kota Bharu.

A press conference is expected to be held about the arrest later today.

At 1.15am on Sunday, Hafizul Marawi fired two shots in KLIA believed to be intended for his wife, who was an umrah agent.

The shots hit her bodyguard instead.

The 38-year-old suspect then fled the airport, prompting police to launch a manhunt – with his details issued in a wanted poster.

Police said today that they did not engage the shooter so as not to endanger bystanders at KLIA.

Hafizul is said to have a criminal record and was in the midst of a divorce. – Malaysiakini
