GISBH has not paid taxes since its establishment.
Members of Global Ikhwan Service and Business Holdings Sdn Bhd (GISBH) were expected to show utmost loyalty to the group’s leadership and threatened if they wanted to quit it, said Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain.
According to the top cop, this was done by exposing the group’s followers to the Aurad Muhammadiah doctrine, which promotes excessive devotion to leaders and distorts the true teachings of Islam.
Following the crackdown against GISBH, its followers have told the police how they were threatened if they went against the group’s practices and wanted to depart from it, Razarudin told Utusan Malaysia.
“Those who are loyal (to the leaders) would be elevated to leadership positions and ‘gifted’ with certain women as wives.
“Police investigations found that several individuals, including top GISBH leaders, had more than two wives,” he reportedly told the Malay daily.
Razarudin said investigators are trying to put together the identities and profiles of about 10,000 GISBH members nationwide.
This is because the information garnered so far is only based on documents seized during raids at GISBH-linked premises, he added.
“We still need to find out who these people are, how they registered to become GISBH members, and whether the registrations were legal (and so on).”
He also reiterated the possibility of detaining top leaders of the group under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (Sosma).
On another matter, Razarudin confirmed that GISBH has not paid taxes since its establishment.
“We understand that they have not paid any taxes so far, but we will leave the matter to the Inland Revenue Board for further action.”
On Sept 11, the police raided 20 charity homes run by GISBH in Selangor and Negeri Sembilan through Ops Global. They rescued 402 children and teenagers aged between one and 17 who were suspected of being victims of exploitation.
Since then, hundreds of suspects have also been rounded up, and several charged. – Malaysiakini
