It has been reported that police have arrested Jamal Yunos this afternoon and investigating him under the Section 34 of the Arms Act 1960 which concerns the carrying of a firearm while drunk or disorderly.
The Sungai Besar Umno chief was arrested at 1.15pm while being treated at the Ampang Puteri Specialist Hospital for brandishing a weapon in public after several photos went viral on social media.
Section 34 carries a maximum one-year imprisonment or a maximum RM2,000 fine or both upon conviction.
“There are several others cases for which the suspect is being investigated,” Selangor Criminal Investigation Department director Fadzil Ahmat was quoted as saying.
Reportedly, two arrest warrants would be served on the ‘Red Shirts’ leader as soon as he is discharged from the hospital.
In May 2016, Malay Armed Forces Veteran Associaton president Mohd Ali Baharom, better known as Ali Tinju, had lodged a police report alleging that Jamal had threatened to assault and shoot him.
