Datuk Seri Najib Razak left the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters in Putrajaya at about 3.15pm after being questioned for five hours on Tuesday.
Najib’s statement was recorded on Tuesday over the probe into SRC International Sdn Bhd, a former subsidiary of the controversial 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB), and the RM42 million that went into his private account.
According to new MACC chief commissioner Mohd Shukri Abdull, the commission had received additional information into the case.
Speaking briefly to the hordes of local and foreign reporters who had converged at the MACC headquarters since morning, Najib said his statement today on SRC International was more detailed than the one he gave three years ago.
“I had given a statement on the SRC issue to MACC in 2015. My statement today is a follow-up of that,” he said.
He also said he would have to return on Thursday (May 24) for further questioning, but a large part was completed today.
Najib thanked the MACC team, describing them as professional.
At a press conference earlier, new MACC chief commissioner Mohd Shukri Abdull said the agency will record the statements of two important witnesses relating to SRC International and 1MDB.
According to the Malay Mail, its sources within the MACC said that Najib had personally requested for interrogations to continue on Thursday and not Wednesday as suggested by the commission.
According to the source, Najib was said to be tired and worn out from today’s questioning and had asked for one extra day to rest.
