Johor Exco Members Sworn In

Pemanis assemblyman Dr Chong Fat Full created history when he was sworn in as part of the state’s exco team, making him Johor’s first-ever state executive councillor who is an independent representative.

Ten members of the Johor state executive council (exco) took their oath of office before Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar at Istana Bukit Serene today.

Tunku Mahkota of Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim also attended the swearing-in ceremony.

Also present were Tunku Panglima Johor Tunku Abdul Rahman and Tunku Putera Johor Tunku Abu Bakar.

According to a statement posted on the official Facebook page of the Sultan of Johor, the exco members sworn in were four Umno assemblymen: Datuk Samsolbari Jamali (Semarang); Ayub Jamil (Rengit); Zaiton Ismail (Sungai Balang); Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi (Layang-Layang); and MIC assemblyman R Vidyananthan (Kahang).

Also sworn-in were four Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) assemblymen: Mazlan Bujang (Puteri Wangsa); Mohd Solihan Badri (Tenang); Tosrin Jarvanthi (Bukit Permai); and Mohd Izhar Ahmad (Larkin); as well as independent assemblyman Dr Chong Fat Full (Pemanis).

Chong, previously from PKR, quit his party and became independent two days ago.

The dentist by profession was appointed as the Johor Unity, Trade and Consumer Affairs Committee chairman.

Last Friday, Hasni, 61, was sworn in as the 18th Menteri Besar of Johor before Sultan Ibrahim at Istana Bukit Serene.

Hasni will also helm the natural resources, administration, finance, planning and Johor economic development portfolios.

The other portfolios are: Datuk Samsol Bari Jamali (agriculture, primary agriculture industry and rural development), Mazlan Bujang (education, information, heritage and culture), Vidyananthan (health and environment), Tosrin (Islamic affairs), Ayub Jamil (housing and local government), Mohd Solihan (public works, transportation and infrastructure), Zaiton Ismail (women development, family and community), Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi (tourism, youth and sports), Mohd Izhar Ahmad (investment, entrepreneur development, cooperatives and human capital).

Johor’s ruling Gabungan Baharu coalition consists of Umno, Bersatu, PAS and MIC.

DAP, PKR and Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) under the PH coalition will be the new Opposition bloc in the state legislative assembly once it convenes.
