Lim Guan Eng was ready to give up his finance minister’s post to placate the supposed Malay anger against DAP, reports Free MalaysiaToday.

The portal quoted former federal territories minister Khalid Samad as saying this when he shared the behind-the-scene happenings during the political crisis which started with Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s resignation as prime minister on February 24.

The Amanah communications chief said Lim also informed Dr Mahathir that DAP was ready to reduce the number of ministers.

“Lim, when negotiating with Tun (Dr Mahathir), said ‘it’s okay, if the Malays are so angry with DAP, we can reduce the number of ministerial positions for DAP, even if I myself do not become finance minister, it’s okay’,” Khalid was quoted as saying.

Dr Mahathir’s resignation and Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin’s decision to bring out his party from PH resulted in the collapse of the government.

Following days of impasse, Muhyiddin was sworn in as the new prime minister with the support of Barisan Nasional and PAS.

Khalid, speaking at a ceramah in Hulu Kelang on Wednesday night, said Muhyiddin blamed DAP for Bersatu’s departure from PH.

When Khalid urged Muhyiddin to bring Bersatu back into PH, Muhyiddin allegedly said: “DAP la”.

Muhyiddin also approached PH leaders to be part of his future cabinet under the Perikatan Nasional government.

However, the former ministers rejected the offer. – TMI
