Kedah Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor is ready to pay the compound for violating the Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) after visiting a car showroom in Penang, early last month.
However, he said until now, he had not received any notice to do so from the police.
“I have not received the notice (to pay the compound) as said.
“I’m waiting (for the notice to be handed over). Once I receive the notice I will go and pay,” he said after visiting the Integration Vaccination Center (PPV) at the Langkawi International Convention Centre (LICC) today.
He was responding to reports that police had already received an instruction for the compound to be issued to Muhammad Sanusi soon.
However, the amount to be imposed on the Jeneri state assemblyman was not revealed by the police.
The case was investigated under Section 269 of the Penal Code and Regulation 17(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures Within Infected Local Areas) Regulations 2021.
The incident on June 5 went viral with video and photos showing an individual believed to be Muhammad Sanusi test-driving a four-wheel-drive vehicle at the showroom at Juru, Penang when the country was under the movement control order which prohibited such activities. – NST
