The Yang di-Pertuan Agong today gifted MACC chief Azam Baki a container of honey, to symbolise the end of the monarch’s “honeymoon” period.
The gift also came with an order.
“As I have stressed before, my honeymoon is over. Now go catch the bees,” the monarch told Azam.
Last month, Sultan Ibrahim said he was ready to implement his true style of rule after the end of the “honeymoon” period.
Before ascending to the throne, the monarch had warned that he would come down hard on corruption, saying he would “hunt all the corrupt people”.
Sultan Ibrahim had also expressed an interest for the MACC to report directly to him.
This, he argued, would ensure that the graftbuster would be free from influence from the executive.
