Lawyer and activist Siti Kasim will be the next to be questioned by police over social media postings.
She posted on Facebook today that “anyone who questions PIS will be called by Bukit Aman. I am one of them. Hannah Yeoh is another”.
She was referring to Islamist party and Perikatan Nasional government component PAS, which she has often criticised on numerous issues.
Siti Kasim told Malaysiakini she was being summoned by the police over several reports lodged against her by Muslim civil society group Pertubuhan Kebajikan Dakwah Islamiah (Pekida).
She said she will give her statement to the police on Thursday.
In recent weeks, Siti Kasim has taken to social media to criticise the management of tahfiz schools, saying that the schools themselves are not a problem, but the people who run them are.
The founder of civil society body Malaysian Action for Justice and Unity Foundation (Maju) is the second critic of the Perikatan Nasional government who yesterday said they have been called to give police a statement.
Segambut MP and former deputy minister Hannah Yeoh earlier today tweeted that she would be summoned by Bukit Aman over her tweet in March questioning the fate of a five-year National Strategy Plan to end child marriage, which the Pakatan Harapan government had announced in January. – TMI
