As the Democratic Action Party (DAP) prepares for its central executive committee (CEC) election, secretary-general Anthony Loke and vice-chairperson Nga Kor Ming have reaffirmed their alliance.

Late last night, Nga shared a social media post in Chinese and Bahasa Melayu, featuring a photo of himself and Loke celebrating Chinese New Year over dinner. The image sent a clear political message—two of the party’s key figures remain united.

‘One heart, one voice, one soul’

Reflecting on their long-standing friendship, Nga recalled their years of working together in DAP’s youth wing. While their roles have evolved, he said their bond remains strong, and he continues to support Loke’s leadership.

“The roles may change, but true friendship and solidarity endure—one heart, one voice, one soul,” Nga wrote.

He added that during their gathering, they reached a key agreement: to build a DAP that is united, strong, stable, and clean, upholding meritocracy amid shifting political challenges.

“We will mobilise every organisation, unite every available force, and stay true to our mission. With unwavering commitment, determination, and passion, we will forge a ‘golden decade’ for all Malaysians.”

Nga’s post, as housing and local government minister, drew widespread support from key DAP leaders, including Teo Nie Ching, Kelvin Yii, Jenny Choy, and Angeline Koo, who echoed the sentiment with the hashtag #StrongerTogether.

Guan Eng’s influence in question?

The DAP CEC election, scheduled for 16 March, will see delegates elect 30 members, who will then decide key leadership roles.

However, the spotlight is on party chairperson Lim Guan Eng’s political standing. Developments since the Penang DAP election last September have fuelled speculation that his influence is waning.

If Loke and Nga join forces to challenge Lim, he could face his toughest leadership test yet.
