Malay Rulers to Meet on Sunday over Muhyiddin’s Proposal

The Malay Rulers are scheduled to hold a special meeting at Istana Negara tomorrow to discuss recommendations proposed by Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

The meeting involving the Rulers is being held after the Prime Minister had an audience with Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah at Istana Abdulaziz in Kuantan, yesterday.

A source at Istana Negara when contacted informed that the King was still in Kuantan as of this morning.

The Rulers’ meeting tomorrow is expected to fine-tune the proposals brought by the government, which includes the possibility of a state of emergency imposition or for Parliament to be prorogued.

Based on a picture which had gone viral since Friday night, apart from Muhyiddin, several Cabinet ministers had also accompanied him in his meeting with the King.

In addition, audience with the Ruler also saw the presence of Armed Forces Chief, Gen Tan Sri Affendi Buang, Inspector General of Police, Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador and Health Director General, Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

Istana Negara in a statement today said that Al-Sultan Abdullah would hold talks with the Malay Rulers to discuss the proposals put forward by Muhyiddin.

Speculations over a state of emergency and a prorogue of Parliament have been makings its rounds since Friday, following the conclusion of a special Cabinet meeting at the Prime Minister’s Office in Putrajaya. – NST
